As an Apprentice surfacing operative, youβll support the vital need to be involved in the surfacing, resurfacing and improvement of vast stretches of roads and the highway network. You will help with the removal of old roads and surfaces, preparing for the new surface, complete inspections, and testing of the new surfaces. You will learn how to operate a wide range of specialist plant machinery such as rollers and spreaders.
If youβre one to tiptoe around puddles with trepidation, maybe this role isnβt for you. You wonβt be spending every day in a clean, corporate office swivelling on an office chair! If you have a natural affinity with the great outdoors, in all weathers, then now weβre talking!
