Job Description

Role Overview



Senior Paralegal within BMG. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ relevant (paralegal) experience, ideally in asset management. The candidate will report to the Managing Director, Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, Legal & Regulatory and will also work closely with the Director, Legal & Regulatory.

Key Responsibilities



Contracts

  • Assisting with drafting, reviewing and arranging execution of standard legal documentation, such as NDAs, engagement letters and service agreements

  • Assisting with updating templates and coordinating internal review of template documents

  • Undertaking vendor assessments




Data Protection
  • Assisting with the provision of data protection advice across the business as and when required

  • Ensuring that intragroup Transfer Agreements are put in place for new entities (as appropriate)

  • Supporting the business in the completion of data protection impact assessments for new activities

General Legal Support

  • Preparing summaries for the Regulatory & Compliance team on key European regulatory developments

  • Dealing with legal invoices including: opening matters on Legal Tracker; forwarding invoices to the appropriate departments; and following up on payment

  • Preparing correspondence and performing other general administrative tasks, such as maintaining electronic legal files, trackers, and databases

  • Printing, scanning and uploading legal documents to document management system

  • Liaising with Brookfield’s global offices

  • Collating documents needed for due diligence/money laundering/know your customer requirements

  • Project managing legal projects, including coordinating meetings, maintaining checklists and following up action points

  • Supporting the legal and regulatory function generally




Knowledge and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a paralegal role

  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint / Excel

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team

Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree in Law preferred, but not essential
