Job description

The Environment Agency, protect and improve the environment. We are the Regulatory industry Department, a team of specialists who regulated Waste Sites, large industrial sites and work with partners to investigate and tackle waste crime, across Wessex.

We have 2 permanent positions within the department and are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the team. These are development opportunities, the successful candidate will undertake a CSA level 4 Apprenticeship for a Regulatory Compliance Officer, whilst working with their colleagues in regulated industry. We are committed to people’s development; time will be allocated for studies, a support network will be put in place and travel will be paid for by the business.



The successful candidate will provide admin support for the teams, respond to enquiries from customers and partners, complete remote audits, attend sites with more experienced officers, maintain and analyse data.



Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

Experience/skills required

  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and prioritise activities to make effective use of time and meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information in a clear, comprehensible style and format.
  • A flexible approach, knowing when to refer to colleagues for guidance and support.
  • Good customer focus with the ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and partners.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office suite.
