Job description
We are looking for a Director of Policy and Human Rights to steer the Commission’s policy development and strategic engagement for some of our most complex, challenging and high-profile work, including our engagement with the UN systems overseeing the UK’s compliance with its international human rights obligations. This is a unique leadership opportunity to shape the positioning and direction of Britain’s equality and human rights regulator, and ensure that the law and public policy across Britain protect fundamental rights.
Person specification
Candidates for this role will bring strategic social policy expertise with proven experience of developing and delivering long-term strategies and complex projects to bring about positive change. They will have knowledge of parliamentary and government decision-making processes, and the ability to build and maintain successful relationships with a variety of different stakeholders at a strategic level. Candidates will have the ability to lead, manage, develop and motivate high-performing, multidisciplinary teams, and a demonstrable commitment to the values of fairness, dignity and respect.

The salary for this role is £73,000 - £87,000. Those joining us from the Civil Service on a level transfer, will be offered the pay point closest to their current salary, wherever possible.

This role has a minimum assignment duration of 2 years. An assignment duration is the period of time a Senior Civil Servant is expected to remain in the same post to enable them to deliver on the agreed key business outcomes.
