Job description
Deliver diverse projects in unique locations
Youβll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a diverse range of multiple projects which could be worth up to Β£5m, and which could involve anything from small building refurbishments and logistics shipments, to IT infrastructure installation and security work. Youβll be working predominantly on compliance remedial projects, managing gas and electrical in regional embassies and homes across the FCDO Estate. As well as planning and defining the work schedule for each project, and making sure all the right contracts and resources are in place, you will be expected to manage your projectβs budgets, identify, manage and mitigate potential risks, effectively manage project change and find solutions to any issues that may arise.
Throughout all your work, whether youβre negotiating and administering agreements with contractors, contributing to front-end design, meeting with stakeholders and chairing meetings on site or helping deliver the final build, you will always be focused on increasing value for money and on ensuring the quality of the products and services we deliver to our customers.
Combine technical and interpersonal skills at the highest levels.
Youβre a qualified project manager, or working towards a PM qualification, with first-hand knowledge of construction/estates project management, and knowledge of security or IT infrastructure installation project management. a PRINCE2 Practitioner (or with APM PMQ qualifications), youβll also bring a working knowledge of CDM 2015. Your problem solving abilities will be key, but youβll also bring experience of procurement, risk management, financial management and managing change within projects.
Given the critical nature of the projects youβll be working on, it is important that you know how to manage multiple stakeholders and can communicate effectively not only with customers, but with everyone involved in making it happen.
Itβs also important that you are someone who can always deliver, even when youβre having to work on several projects at once, and no matter how challenging or fast-paced the environment gets.

Based in the UK, you could work from our offices in Whitehall, London, or at our site in Hanslope Park, near Milton Keynes, although whichever youβre based at, youβll need to be prepared to travel between sites as the need arises. Depending on the projects youβre managing, youβll also get the opportunity to travel overseas, which could take you anywhere in the world.
In addition to your salary, Civil Service pension and competitive benefits, youβll also receive a location allowance depending on where youβre based:
- Hanslope Park based posts attract an allowance of Β£1,750 per annum.
- London based posts attract an allowance of Β£5,000 per annum.

Person specification
Working towards Prince 2 Practitioner, APMP, ISEB Certificate in Project Management or relevant experience.
Experience of delivering small construction projects end to end.
Applied project management methodologies in project design, development and implementation.
Specific domain understanding and experience of operation, maintenance and deployment, using NEC3/4, GC works, and FIDIC contracts and documentation in procuring construction.
Health and Safety knowledge and experience in construction and CDM2015 regulations.
