Jacuna is at the forefront of the rapidly growing dark kitchen industry with multiple national locations serving 100s of the UK’s most-loved and innovative food brands, with significant growth planned in the coming years. Dark kitchens are typically delivery-only kitchens with no customer frontage from which brands can prepare and deliver high-quality food to customers living or working nearby via apps such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat.
Jacuna seeks an ambitious Financial Controller to manage the finance function. Jacuna is at a pivotal point moving from a start-up to a well-established business, and this role will be vital in ensuring the company’s future growth. You will be owning the entire finance and accounting function, working with the senior leadership team to implement and improve processes. This role is ideal for anyone who loves the idea of building their own financial team and systems, and takes pride in building systems for scaling. This role will report into the CEO.
Role Responsibilities
Oversee all financial control activities, including the review and analysis of monthly numbers
Management of the transactional team and overseeing/reviewing sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll, cash postings and all general ledger entries
Responsible for ensuring that the financial processes, systems and controls are operating effectively
Management of all outsourced partners
Responsible for all statutory reporting, compliance and management of external bodies (e.g. HMRC, local councils)
Responsible for VAT, CIS, PAYE and all other taxes, including corporation tax
Responsible for monthly payroll, including employee expenses and commission schemes
Preparation of monthly management accounts and ad hoc reports
Responsible for implementing new accounting / finance processes and systems/software as required
Responsible for stringent cash management process and payment approvals
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum bachelors degree from an accredited university in maths, accounting, economics, or a related field
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CIMA)
Advanced skills in Excel and Xero
Highly numeric/strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly motivated with real attention to detail
Self-starter who desires ownership of a function and various business-critical processes
Tenacious in approach, with no job too intimidating
Comfortable with the unknown and making calculated assumptions
Excellent communication skills to deliver and improve cross-functional understanding on finance function
Ability to work as part of a team and under pressure in a fast-paced start-up environment
