Remote / Scotland with occasional travel to Glasgow or Edinburgh as required for meetings.



Salary / Package



£70,000 - £75,000 dependant on experience plus

Role Summary



A leading infrastructure consultancy is moving into the next stage of growth in their core sectors of highways and rail and is looking to hire an Environmental & Sustainability Lead to manage and lead the Environment and Sustainability (E&S) business in Scotland.



You will help to deliver a culture of continual improvement, ensuring contractual and regulatory requirements are delivered, providing sustainability and environmental support and advice to the projects and regional teams whilst meeting legal and company standards

.

As Environment & Sustainability Lead you will be responsible for



  • Leading and managing the overall capability, development, deployment and

performance of the Environment and Sustainability delivery team for a project portfolio.

  • Advising and guide all levels of staff within the business.
  • Supporting the E&S upskilling and development of the business operational teams, assisting in the identification of site E&S training needs.
  • Managing Environmental and Sustainability Advisors.
  • Responsible for the management of sustainability and environmental risks and mitigation, consultation with clients, stakeholders and regulators.
  • Utilising the findings from reporting data, assessments, external and internal audits to drive sustainability action plans and inform key business decisions.
  • Supporting the company environmental management system ensuring it is implemented and operated in line with changing standards and legislation on contracts.
  • Conducting site E&S Inspections, visits and joint tours.
  • Using your network to identify new opportunities
  • Ensuring the projects complies with all Regulations, Company Policies, consents/licences, and the BMS/EMS and that it is continually improved
  • Supporting their Project /Business area during incident/accident investigations


Seeking professionals with:



  • A extensive background working in Environmental / Sustainability ideally in the rail or highways sector but not essential.
  • Environmental Degree, NEBOSH Environmental Diploma / IEMA Certificate or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in the Civils/Utilities industry in an environmental and/or sustainability role.
  • Proven experience of leading a team & project management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to operate in a range of environments.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to positively influence environment and sustainability within projects
  • Experience in Implementing/maintaining ISO14001
  • Practitioner Member of IEMA (PIEMA)


The following qualities/experience are desirable:



  • Internal environmental auditor qualification
  • IEMA Full Membership/Chartered Environmentalist (CENV) or equivalent
