Role Overview & Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 4 Technical Instructor at Hexham General Hospital as part of the Neuro-elderly out-patient team to provide assessment, treatment and advice for patients in the out patient setting and the community. The team provides Physiotherapy to adults with a range of conditions following injury and illness.
A suitable candidate would be required to assist Physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans. The post would require the applicant to be competent in assessing and issuing appropriate walking aids therefore previous experience as a Physiotherapy assistant is essential.
The successful applicant would be expected to manage their own clinical caseload of non-complex conditions and be able to work without direct supervision in a community setting. They should be able to demonstrate and apply their underpinning knowledge to modify and progress patient treatment programs without direct supervision. They should have the ability to work flexibly and respond to the changing needs of patients and carers.
The post would require good communication and listening skills to discuss patients triaged and delegated by a Physiotherapist and to provide feedback on individual patients to a physiotherapist.
A car and driving licence are essential for the role.
Basic IT skills is essential to support with equipment ordering and inputting data on a weekly basis.

To work under the supervision of a qualified Physiotherapist to implement treatment programmes for individual patients or groups of patients.
To assist Physiotherapists in the treatment of their patients, working to defined protocols and treatment plans.
To carry own clinical caseload of non-complex conditions.
To provide late-stage rehabilitation and promote a link between health & leisure or education, within the community.
Demonstrate and apply the underpinning knowledge to modify and progress patient treatment programmes without direct supervision.
To facilitate arrangement of appointments, and ordering of equipment.
To be responsible for the overall hygiene & maintenance of equipment.
To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which
(a) engages, enables and empowers others
(b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and
(c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
