Job Description

One of the largest libraries in the world based in Euston, Central London is in urgent need of Assistants to support them within their reading rooms. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a wonderful team and a historic British institution

We will be carrying out tours in the coming week for those that have been successfully selected to view the role in person.

Shift: Monday to Friday - 9 am to 5 pm
Duration: Ongoing
Location: St Pancras - Fully Onsite
Rate: £11.05 per hour

Job purpose:

To deliver exceptional levels of customer service through the provision of access to the collections both to Readers in the reading rooms and other remote and internal users. Also to play a role in the maintenance both of the reading rooms and the collection by contributing to collection moves and Preservation requirements.

Main tasks

Expected to demonstrate a willingness to take on a range of tasks, as appropriate, in own or other departments/directorates to support the delivery of the Library's services as required by line management

Undertake tasks involved in the delivery and planning of key areas of operation such as:

Collection of Books from and returning them to the libraries

Maintenance of collection storage capacity including implementation of enabling collection moves

Retrieval, delivery, and replacement of collection items

Provision of Reading Room services to Readers

Supporting the maintenance of the reading rooms

Providing Customer service to guests and readers should they have queries

Additional Information

Work within the collection reading room areas may be physically demanding requiring a lot of walking and manual handling.

The person is expected to work flexibly as required
