Pertemps Recruitment agency has partnered with a major higher education college in London, this institution is looking for Maintenance Officer to join their team.
This is a full-time, permanent role β paying up to Β£25,000 per annum.
Key Purpose:
- To provide an efficient and effective site maintenance and caretaking service to the college.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To undertake repairs to fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment and redecoration as required, including the use of power tools.
- To receive deliveries of equipment and materials, and to porter/deliver internally and to other sites as required on a rota basis.
- To work collaboratively and flexibly with the site security team and the cleaning contractors.
- To ensure statutory compliance of H&S in respect of property, plant, procedures, contractors, staff, students and other site users.
- To undertake the clearance and removal of rubbish and dealing with the recycling of paper and other products.
- To assist the Estate Manager and the Head of Health & Safety in the management of incidents and emergencies in line with policy, procedures and business continuity planning.
- Assist with the accuracy and maintenance of facilities asset and property register.
- To carry out periodic checks on all college accommodation and grounds, including toilets and other communal areas, ensuring that all facilities are in a sound and safe operating condition.
- Assisting public relations by responding to staff, student and site visitors in a helpful manner.
- Monitoring consumable stock levels and requesting stocks and supplies are replenished as required.
- To undertake driving duties and clean the college vehicles as required.
- To undertake such duties as may be required which are commensurate with the scale of the post
- Experience of buildings and site maintenance or similar in a professional capacity
- Experience of conducting porterage duties
- Awareness of Building, Fire Safety, Disability, Asbestos and H&S legislation
- Experience of working to deadlines, managing and prioritising time effectively
- Experience of working independently and as a member of a team
- Awareness of sustainable energy initiatives
- Full, clean UK/EU driving licence
- Handyperson skills which can be adapted and developed to cover caring for the fabric and security of buildings
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good spatial awareness
- Basic IT skills
