Job Description

Field Support Engineers are responsible for software application and support, including installing, commissioning and supporting our range of navigation, surveying, data processing and simultaneous operations software systems in offshore survey environments. Due to the diversity of our client base and the nature of the oil exploration industry, the role provides the opportunity for worldwide travel, primarily undertaking support roles on vessels undertaking seismic surveys.

When not in the field, duties include office-based client support, system commissioning and testing, and involvement in client training and documentation.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  Strong IT systems, applications, and networking experience
• 
  Previous experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux based systems
• 
  Effective problem-solving skills
• 
  Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels
• 
  Ability to work under pressure in demanding operational environments
• 
  Good analytical skills, and the ability to apply these to systems and processes
• 
  Flexible and Adaptable
• 
  Ability to cope with variable periods away from home, sometimes in challenging environments

What would really help?

• 
  Surveying and/or navigation experience
• 
  Knowledge of data communications and basic electrical/electronic engineering
• 
  Experience of GPS systems
• 
  Knowledge of the installation and configuration of data radio systems
