Assistant Shift Engineer

Aufgaben

The Coire Glas Exploratory works project is the first large scale pumped storage scheme to be developed in the UK for more than 30 years.

Coire Glas is a hydro pumped storage scheme with a potential capacity of up to 1500MW. Coire Glas is an excellent pumped storage site with a large lower reservoir (Loch Lochy) and a significant elevation of more than 500m between the lower and the new upper reservoir site over a relatively short distance.

We have an exciting opportunity for Shift Engineers to gain hands on experience in drill and blast tunneling. These roles will suit new graduates who are enthusiastic and willing to learn. Full training and support will be given for the right candidates who are happy to work a shift pattern of 12 hour shifts which includes nights and weekends. We who are willing to learn will report to the Tunnel Management Team with responsibilities to include:

• Shotcrete testing in the tunnel and at the batching plant and responsibility for related documentation.
• Completion of documentation and check sheets for the rock support installation.
• Convergence measurements using the total station.
• 3D Measurement.
• Completion of shift reports.
• Completion of cycle time reports.
• Handover of quality documents for the client.
• Assist the Tunnel Sub Agent and Tunnel Surveyor as required.

Qualifikationen

Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnics or related subject.

Experience not required but must be enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Happy to work 12 hour shifts in a shift pattern that includes nights and weekends.
