Job summary:


To undertake a variety of landscape maintenance and development works across Windsor Great Park ensuring works are delivered to the highest standards.

Essential functions of the Job:

  • Implement agreed plans and instructions from the Supervisor;

  • Undertake a range of tasks including: turf laying and seeding; herbicide application; turf maintenance work; grass cutting; strimming; hedge cutting; leaf collection; tree planting and young tree maintenance including formative pruning, weed control and irrigation; thinning and brashing; clearance of woody undergrowth; felling, shredding and sectional cross-cutting; drainage work including ditch clearance; fencing repairs; litter collection and bin emptying; repair and laying of aggregate tracks and paths; installation and repair of seats and benches;

  • Ensure that all interactions with visitors are conducted in a courteous and professional manner and to represent the best interests of the Crown Estate at all times;

  • Ensure security and care of plant and machinery;

  • Support the team to deliver wider Estate objectives;

  • Understand and follow relevant health and safety procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation;

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous experience of land management based operations;

  • A practical horticultural qualification such as NVQ Level 3 would be an advantage;

  • Demonstrable experience and understanding of land based health and safety practices.

  • Ability to work on own initiative;

  • Attention to detail;

  • Team oriented;

  • Demonstrable skills in delivering high quality work safely, using a variety of machinery;

  • Ability to effectively problem solve;

  • Adaptable with a flexible approach;

  • A good communicator, confident, friendly, approachable with the ability to engage with a wide variety of people;

  • First Aid trained to the required level (training will be provided);

  • Ability to effectively problem solve;

  • Physically fit and able to work in all weathers;

  • Full driving license;

  • Ideally the following competency ‘tickets’ (training will be provided): pesticides/tractor/chainsaw.
